Westbrook, Willie Mae was born on June 24, 1927 in Bonham Texas and she passed on March 16, 2021.
Mae was born to William W. (Red) and Rosa Mae Wright on June 24, 1927. She grew up in Bonham Texas with her brothers Dempsey and Wayne. When she was 17 she met the most handsome man she had ever seen while he was stationed at Jones Field. That handsome pilot was Lowell Westbrook. Mae and Lowell were married in 1944 and raised four loving children (Vicki Notier, Larry (Sue) Westbrook, Phil (Connie) Westbrook, Keith (Carol) Westbrook.) They moved to Minnesota in 1959 where Mae was a life long dedicated employee at LifeTouch National School Studios. She met many cherished friends at Lifetouch whom she stayed connected with long after she retired. Mae lived a beautiful life and was loved by everyone who knew her. Mae had 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand child. She adored every single one of them. Mae’s clever sense of humor, thoughtfulness and loving kindness were only a few of her gracious qualities. To say it best, she was God‘s perfect woman. Music brought Mae such joy and she shared that joy with others by singing as a Sweet Adeline for many years. Music was such a comfort to Mae in her final weeks, so much that she sang most of the day. The song Amazing Grace surrounded her as she was embraced by Jesus. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, she was our beautiful yellow rose of Texas.
We will be celebrating Mae’s life as well as her first birthday in heaven on Saturday, June 26th at 3pm. Sturgis Park lower pavilion ( 501–579 Second Ave S)in Buffalo MN. Please join us for a service at 3 pm followed by food and fellowship.
