William D. Bill Zaske, age 74, of Maple Lake and formerly of Montrose died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at his residence.

He was born on May 17th, 1933 in Morgan the son of William & Erma Braunger Zaske.

Bill graduated in 1951 from Morgan High School where he played on the football team.

On October 4, 1952, William Zaske and Alice Vogl were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael™s Catholic Church in Morgan.

God blessed their marriage with six children.

He honorably served his Country in The United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. When he returned to Morgan, he assisted his parents with their family farm and worked at the Morgan Gas Station until 1960.

Bill and Alice also worked at his parent™s resort on Mille Lacs Lake.

In 1965, they moved to Montrose and Bill began working for the State Highway Department. He retired in 1994 and they moved to rural Maple Lake.

He enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, collecting 2-cylinder John Deere tractors and engines.

For many years, Bill and Alice wintered in Harlingen, Texas.

He was a faithful member of St. Timothy™s Catholic Church in Maple Lake and belonged to The V.F.W., Knights of Columbus and to The Catholic Aid Association.

Survived by loving wife: Alice; children: Jean (Tom) Triplett of Hackensack, Eric (Maureen) Zaske of Rosemount, Laureen (Don) Bodin of Buffalo, Barb Staskivige of Delano and special friend Phil St. Aubin, Kevin (Cheryl) Zaske of Maple Lake and Cathy (Jeff) Czock of Buffalo; thirteen grandchildren: Jodi (Tim) Lengyel, Rob, (Jessie) Triplett, Jessi (Tom) Hanson, Rosella & Amelia Zaske, Amy (Brad) Ebert, Laurie Bodin (Ryan Ross), Kelly Bodin (Jake), Billie Jo Salonek & Kevin Staskivige Jr. (Maddie), David, Maria and Anna Zaske; fifteen great grandchildren: Nicole, Dylan, Thomas, Shelby, Colton, Cassie, Hunter, Kayla, Jakob, Brad Jr., Billy, Dylan, Dan, Allyson and Cody Nelson; two brothers: Donald (Nancy) Zaske of Onamia and Dennis (Anita) Zaske of Longville; a sister: Darleen (Jerry) Hatch of Oregon; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: William & Erma Zaske and by his father-in-law & mother-in-law: Frank & Anna Vogl.

A Mass of Christian Burial for William D. Bill Zaske was held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 10th at The Church of St. Timothy in Maple Lake. Father Michael Izen was the Celebrant. A Knights of Columbus Rosary was recited at 10:00 A.M.

A visitation was held on Sunday, March 9th from 3-7 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Prayer service was held at 6:30 P.M. Sunday evening.

Interment with military rites was held at 3:30 P.M. Monday, March 10th at St. Michael™s Cemetery in Morgan. Father Robert J. Wyffels officiated.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Jodi Lengyel, Amy Ebert, Billie Jo Salonek, Jessi Hanson, Laurie Bodin, Kelly Bodin, Maria Zaske, Anna Zaske, Rosella Zaske and Amelia Zaske.

Casket Bearers were Rob Triplett, Kevin Staskivige, Jr., David Zaske, Tom Triplett, Don Bodin and Jeff Czock.

    I only had the pleasure of meeting you once, but that meeting was very enjoyable.
    I was very shocked to hear of Bills passing. God Bless him. I thought I would get to see you all again. God had other plans for him. You all take care . My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
