William T. “Dutch” Fischer, age 78, of St. Michael passed away on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020. He was born in Minneapolis on January 19, 1941 the son of William E. and Phyllis J. (Coleman) Fischer. Survived by his wife: Deb; children: Randy Fischer, Laurie (Bill) Furey, Bill Cindy) Fischer, Russ (Brenda) Fischer and Chris (Jen) Fischer; 7 grandchildren; sisters: Judy (George) Hamilton, Teri ( Greg) Langlois, newly found sister Sue (Mel) Higley; sisters-in-law: Suzanne Fischer and Cathy (Marc) Sullivan; longtime friends: Jon Blackstone and Jim Ewert; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rick and grandson Matthew.

It is with deep sadness that we bid Dutch farewell. He was a pillar of strength for the working people and the power of organized labor. The custodians in District 278 still benefit from his work. He was my mentor and my inspiration. I followed in his footsteps as union steward and strive to uphold the high standards he set for us. We will miss him.
