William L. Schalo, age 79, of Corcoran accidently on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Survived by loving children: Jack (Marcia) Schalo, Jeffrey (Beverly) Schalo, Paula (Jeffrey) Lundeen and Kris (Steven) Erickson; grandchildren: Carrie (Chris) Friendschuh, Andrea (Eduardo) Arruda, Rachel (Terry) Galle, Laurel & Brooks Lundeen and Matthew Ebeling; great grandchildren: Olivia, Emma, April, Abbi and Lucas; sisters and a brother: Bernice Faue, Carrie Forsell, Barb (Dean) LaVine and Richard “Dick” (Carolyn) Schalo; sister-in-law: Janice (Dale) Kottke and a brother-in-law: Norbert Patnode; special friend: Diane Nelson; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife: Charlotte M. Schalo, his parents: William & Lillie Schalo, a brother: Don and by a sister: Betty. Bill was formerly employed at Gateway Foods for thirty six years and was a longtime member of Teamsters Local # 120. He was a faithful member of The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Corcoran where he served as an usher and on the Cemetery Board. Bill was very active in the Corcoran Lions Club where he had served as a Past President and was a Melvin Jones Recipient. He was also fond of The Northland Oliver Collectors Club, Knights of Columbus Council #3758 and American Legion Post #394. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 3, 2009 in the Parish Center of The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle0 County Road # 10, in Corcoran. Visitation AT THE PARISH CENTER on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 3-9 P.M. Further visitation Thursday morning one hour prior to Mass at the Parish Center. Memorials are suggested for The St. Thomas Endowment Fund or to The Corcoran Lions Club.
I am so sorry for the death of my buddy Mr Bill. He was the most loving and helpful person I have ever met. He will be dearly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family.

Schalo Family, it is with great sadness to here about Bill’s passing. In my short three years as Chief of Police in Corcoran in was an honor to get to know Bill. He always made me feel welcome, be it a Lions event or just running into him. My prayers are with you at this difficult time.

My sympathy to all of you,
Each of us were blessed for having Bill impact our lives. Knowing all of you from elementary school on I looked at Bill as a parent figure then later on as someone to call a friend. I will surley miss teasing him at the bank, in Church and everywhere else. Our goal should be to impact as many peoples lives as your dad/grandpa/brother/friend did. The world would be a much better place.
We know that Bill is watching down on us probally telling everyone well “I am no longer 10 toes up!” Please let us know if there is any thing we can help with.
