Wayne Adrian Peterson, age 87, formerly of Brooklyn Center and Lake Miltona, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at his residence in Rogers.

He was born on March 8, 1937, in rural Canby, MN, the son of Oscar and Hazel (Wicks) Peterson.

Wayne grew up on a farm in Southwestern MN, where he attended country school and later graduated from Dawson High School in 1954. He loved the farm life and helping his dad with farm work. He had the “farm boy” work ethic and was always so proud of that. As a young man, Wayne aspired to become a farmer on his own. After one unsuccessful year, he saw how hard farm life could be, and moved to the Twin Cities instead. He attended business school and started a career as an Administrative Hearing Officer with the Hennepin County Court system. He married his high school sweetheart Joyce Lindblad on September 5, 1959, and they raised 3 children together.

Along with his work, Wayne always kept himself busy and never liked to sit still. He especially enjoyed hunting on his land in Baudette, MN, that he purchased with three of his high school buddies. He also bought a cabin on Lake Miltona, that eventually was transformed into a retirement home, where he spent a lot of quality time with friends and family. Wayne cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a kind, pleasant and quick-witted man that loved his family and friends and ENJOYED LIFE!!!!

In the fall of 2021, Wayne received a diagnosis of severe heart disease. As his health declined, his family was fortunate enough to spend quality time with him and provide the care he needed in his own home. Wayne handled it with grace, strength, and love and always kept his sense of humor, up until his final day. We will always cherish the many memories and stories of growing up on the farm, his keen sense of humor, kindness, and love for family. He always said, “I had a good life!”.

May he rest in peace now and our memories of him be a source of comfort, inspiration, and strength.

Survived by his children Darcy (John) Erickson, Michael (Patti) Peterson and Craig Peterson (Staci Scherr); six grandchildren Kali (Vince) Lindenfelser and Cory Erickson; Nicole (Brandon) Johnston and Kylie Peterson; Morgan (Riley) Mitchell and Mitchell Peterson; six great-grandchildren Maren, Wesley; Kayleigh, Brooklyn, James and Joseph; and other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ann (Lindblad) Peterson; his parents Hazel and Oscar; daughter in law Barb Peterson; sister Genevieve Bothun; and special aunt Pearl.

A Memorial service for Wayne Peterson will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 7401 County Road 101, Maple Grove, MN with lunch to follow.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service AT THE CHURCH.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to North Memorial Hospice or Crescent Cove.
