Visitation Information

Warner W. Hohag, age 95, long time resident of Waverly, MN passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011. Warner was born to Fred & Mary Hohag in Richfield, MN September 22, 1915. The family moved to Waverly in 1917 and Warner lived on and farmed this land his entire lifetime. Warner attended Jandro School and completed his education through 8th grade. On the afternoon of October 18, 1937, Warner took the afternoon off from harvesting corn to marry Louise Painschab. Before settling in Waverly, they spent 2 years farming in Hutchinson, MN on the farm known as the D.J. Murphy Farm. After the birth of their first son John, they moved back to Waverly to establish the home and farm on which they lived for the rest of their life. As time went on 3 more children, Janet, Marcie and Steven, enriched his life and put a sparkle in his eye. From the activities of farm life, many memories were created for family and friends that will remain with everyone forever.
Warner was very active in the community and church in addition to his dairy, beef and crop farming. He enjoyed baseball, bowling and horseshoes. Pity anyone who challenged him to a game of horseshoes as Warner was eager to hear his horseshoe clang, signifying a ringer. After retirement, Warner and Louise enjoyed traveling to many states, and he later relived these trips through the travel journals he wrote. Warner was a part of many people’s lives and we will all miss his gentle smile and quiet humor.
Survived by wife Louise, daughters Janet (John) Helin, Marcie (Kim) Tuma, and son Steven (Patty) Hohag. Grandchildren Amy (Ivan) Swenson, Quay (Nancy) Zander, Kara (Scott) Keister, great-grandchildren; Ellie, Jonathan and Jack Warner Swenson, Rebecca and Jacob Zander, Laura and Tim Keister, and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, brothers Charles and Stanley, sisters Edna and Vivian, son John and granddaughter Tatum.

Grandpa will surely be missed. He has been an inspiration to me and has taught me many things. The way he has helped others and the way he loved his family is the way he taught me to live my life. He always said to me, “Don’t worry about it grandson, it will work out.” I love you and will miss our talks.
