Wallace R. Johnson, age 85 of Ogema and formerly of St. Michael, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at his home.

Wallace Richard Johnson was born on January 12, 1923 in Minneapolis to Andrew W. and Glenna (Swanson) Johnson. He served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers. For 23 years he worked as a machinist for Kurt Manufacturing in Fridley. On February 5, 1944 Wally married Ollie M. Wing in Columbia Heights. Wally enjoyed wood carving and loved to travel. He spent 12 winters in Lazy Palms RV Park, located near Carrollton, Texas.

Wally is survived by sons: Jim (Janet) Johnson of Detroit Lakes, and Jerry (Darlene) Johnson of Akin; daughters: Judy (Wendell) Hung of Plymouth, and Janice Harold of Forest Lake; sisters-in-law: Doris Johnson of Coon Lake, and Shirley (Phil) Hockert of Florida; brother-in-law, David (Linda) Wing of Edina; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ollie on September 21, 1992; and brother, Robert.

A private memorial service will be held, with interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Buffalo.
