Virginia Jane Reed Cummings was born May 3, 1920 and died August 4, 2011. Virginia was born on the family farm in Rome, Wisconsin to Walter and Hedwig Reed. She married Harold K. Cummings on December 21, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. They lived in Whitewater, Wisconsin most of their married life. They raised three children; Gordon Wylie, Patti Jayne and David. Virginia worked part time at the public library, was an avid reader and loved to golf. After her husband retired, they moved to Tomah, Wisconsin. Harold died in 1992 in Tomah. In 2003, Virginia moved to Buffalo to be with her family. She spent the past four years living at Sunrise Assisted Living in Buffalo winning Blue Ribbons at the Wright County Fair for her many crafts and making many good friends.
Virginia is survived by two sons; Wylie (Lin) and David (Nancy) and daughter, Patti (Larry) Totten. She has 6 grandchildren; Kelly Cummings, Tracey (Floyd) Finck, Lindsey (Joe) DeBartelo, Reed (Erin) Cummings, Tim (Karen) Totten, and Tari (Scott) Waite. She also has 10 great-grandchildren; Amanda, Derek, Jake, Tyler, Cameron, Trevor, Bradan, Nick, David, and Danielle Jo. She has one surviving sister, Helen Ortmann of Oconomoc, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Cora Bernice Merrit, her husband, Harold, and one grandchild, Steven Jay Totten.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah, Wisconsin on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
