Theresa Marie Vashro, age 65 of Buffalo, MN, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2023. She was born on August 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, MN; the cherished daughter of James and Rosemary Vashro (Laliberte).

Theresa’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the power of sharing one’s love through food. Her culinary adventure began at the tender age of 12 when she took her first job in a restaurant. Over the years, her dedication and talent in the kitchen shone brightly, and she soon was managing The Gold Nugget. Theresa’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to become the proud owner of two esteemed eateries: TnT’s restaurant in South Haven, MN, and Sunrise Cafe in Howard Lake, MN. Her commitment and hard work were evident in the success of these establishments, and her passion for providing delicious meals was truly a labor of love. Her ability to make everyone feel at home, whether they were regular patrons or first-time visitors, earned her a special place in the hearts of all who walked through her restaurant doors.

Her love for cooking and baking knew no bounds, and she was always eager to experiment with new recipes. Theresa had a special talent for creating delicious homemade dishes from scratch, a skill that endeared her to everyone who had the privilege of savoring her creations. She had a genuine passion for feeding people and derived immense joy from watching their faces light up as they enjoyed her meals.

Theresa’s warm and generous spirit extended beyond her home kitchen. She was the Director of Food and Nutrition at the Good Samaritan Society, a nursing home where she ensured that residents were treated like family and received the best care.

However, her most cherished role was that of a loving mother and grandmother. Theresa took immense pride in her family, and her grandchildren especially held a special place in her heart. She relished attending their school events and cheering them on at sporting games, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured by her family for generations to come. Her family was her anchor, and her love for them knew no bounds.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Rosemary; and brother, Tom.

She is survived by her children, Cheri (Dustin) Butler and Shane (Laura) Vashro; grandchildren, Paige, Brynn, Mason, and Bailee; siblings, Jim (Kathy), Ann (Byron), Pat, Joe, Paul (Kathy), Jacqui (Brian), Mary (Hans), David, Cathy (Joe), Peter, Frank (Laurie), Mike; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville (300 Main Street North) from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM with memory sharing at 5:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family (Venmo: @cheri-butler74).

I knew Theresa as my boss. She was one of the, if not the kindest women I’ve ever met. I still walk into work and expect her office door to be open. I loved bothering her about recipes and talking with her about her work meetings. She was an extremely hard worker, and I always had trouble getting her to go home!! We’d go back and forth and I’d tell her to go home, eat dinner, and go to bed. One time I even convinced her to get herself ice cream on the way home as a treat!! She was so special and I’m so glad I got to know her. I’m sending so much love to her and the family <3
