Novacek, Sylvester “Jim”
Age 93 of Buffalo, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Annandale Care Center.
He was born on November 26, 1922 in Tabor, Minnesota the son of Joseph and Anna (Maruska) Novacek.
On May 29, 1948, Margaret Badner & Sylvester Novacek were joined in holy marriage at St. Mary’s Basilica in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with three children and they raised their family on a farm south of Buffalo.
Jim was a 30+ year employee of Northern States Power, where he worked as a cable splicer. He also lived and worked on his farm and loved being a part of the land.
He was a faithful and lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.
Jim loved to read, watch football, play cribbage and enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. But his greatest love was the time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Margaret; parents Joseph and Anna (nee Maruska) Novacek; son-in-law David Musolf; brothers Anthony and Joseph Novacek; sisters Gertrude Hamre and Katherine Patterson.
Survived by daughter Karin Musolf of St. Michael; sons Kevin (Carol) Novacek of Buffalo and James (Debra) Novacek of Nashwauk; grandchildren Andrew (Lori) Musolf, Jenny Musolf, Rebecca (Tim) Bousquet, Molly (Eric) Nordquist, Eric (Lindsey) Novacek, Adam (Stephanie) Novacek, Steven (Mariel) Novacek, Jesse (fiancé Mariah Kaufmann) Novacek and Patrick (Kristina) Novacek; step grandchildren Michael (Kori) Maas and Tammy (Eric) Clausen; 17 great grandchildren; sister Cecilia Bialke; sister-in-law Mary Whiting; also many other relatives and friends.
Honorary casket bearers are Jennifer, Rebecca and Molly Musolf.
Casket bearers are Andrew Musolf, Eric, Adam, Steven, Jesse and Patrick Novacek.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.
