Sydney Ann-Marie Hlavka, age 27, of Buffalo earned her wings on Thursday April 17, 2014. She was in hospice at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo MN. Sydney was born on January 6, 1987 in St. Louis Park, the daughter of Thomas & Sheila (Hundt) Hlavka.
Sydney graduated from Buffalo High School in 2004. She was involved in volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and played the saxophone in the high school band. During high school she was employed at Bucks Pizza for many years. Sydney graduated from Rasmussen College in 2007 with an Associate in Applied Science/Medical Coding degree. After graduation Sydney worked as a Veterans Affair Agent for IQOR in Golden Valley.
Sydney enjoyed snowboarding, wakeboarding and summer was her favorite season. Sydney loved summer so much she wore her “Reef” flip flops and signature zebra sunglasses all year round, even in the winter.
She was a very loving and giving person who will be remembered by all who met her. She was a very unique and determined individual who worked hard to reach her goals. Sydney’s sky blue eyes, sunshine smile, vibrant personality and contagious laugh will never be forgotten.
Survived by parents: Tom and Sheila Hlavka of Buffalo. Her brothers: Aaron of Howard Lake, Anthony (Heather Radman) of Buffalo, and Jared Hlavka of Monticello. Her paternal grandmother: Elaine Hlavka of New Hope and maternal grandmother: Gerry Hundt of Buffalo. Uncles and Aunts: John (Bonnie) Hlavka of Rosemount, Ann Marie (Frank) Schneider of Champlin, Mark (Ruth) Hlavka of St. Michael, Amy (Jim Chabot) Sworan of Phoenix, AZ., Mary Kay (Dan) Billadeau of Rochester, David Hlavka of Portland, OR., Karen (Warren) Ogden of Raeford, NC., Julie (Mark Nowak) Ollikain of Buffalo and Susan Hundt of St. Louis Park. Numerous cousins, relatives and friends especially best friends: Lia, Kyle, Sam, Josh, Aubbie and BJ. Her kitties: Spooky and Lola.
Proceeded in death by paternal grandfather: Joseph B. Hlavka and her maternal grandfather: George Hundt. Uncles: Jerome and Kevin Hlavka.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 4-8 PM at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A memorial picnic will be held at Sturgis Park in June.

We share your grief in the loss of your sweet daughter. You have been through so much during this ordeal, and know that your love and support helped her cope and keep going. We kept you in our thoughts and prayers, and never gave up hope for her recovery. God’s Blessings to you.
My step-daughter, Kara Wefel, knew Sydney from high school. Prayers sent out to her friends and family!

Sheila, Tom, and family; I want you to know that I have lots of great memories of Sydney and I thank you for that. I remember all us kids being down at the lake in the summer, how fun that was. I’m so very sorry for your loss.
