Stephen Roger Nelson, age 38 of Monticello, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at home.

He was born August 31, 1974 in Roseau, MN. He was the son of Roger and Eleanor (Block) Nelson.

He attended schools in Roseau and Buffalo, MN and Arizona. In 1998, he moved from Arizona back to Minnesota.

He was a talented Auto Body Technician. He worked for Albertville Body Shop for several years. In 2006, he turned his passions and hobbies into a business building and customizing Harley’s at his home.

Stephen lived an adventurous life, traveling the country on his motorcycle, making friends where ever he went. He was kind and generous and he was always there to offer help and support.

Stephen loved spending “garage” time working on his bikes and miscellaneous projects with his friends and family.

Stephen was a hard worker, devoted to his family and friends, especially his son Cody.

Stephen is survived by his son, Cody Nelson, of Buffalo, MN and Cody’s mother, Billie Jo Salonek; father: Roger Nelson of St. Michael, MN; siblings: Mary Jo Nelson of Albertville, MN, Kari Nelson (Chris Werner) of Buffalo, MN, Brian Nelson of Fergus Falls, MN and Kyle Nelson of La Mesa, CA; Nephews: Chase and Cooper Werner; A grandfather, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive him.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Eleanor “Eli” Nelson; grandparents: Lester and Myrtle Block and Clarice Nelson of Roseau, MN.

Services have been set for 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 – Zion Lutheran Church Buffalo, MN.

Visitation will take place Friday from 5 p.m.–8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church and again one hour prior to the service.

    Steve and I were really close until he had to move to AZ. Sadly, we lost touch and went our separate ways. I will always remember the great times we had. The sleepovers and playing in the woods of lower Davis Addition. Antogizing a few of our teachers at the intermidiate school (putting it nicely). Just having fun being kids.

    RIP Steve. I am lucky to have known you for the little time I did.
