Stacey Francine Johnson, age 53, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. She was born on August 5, 1969.
Stacey spent her early years in her hometown of Menahga, MN. She grew up on a small dairy farm and attended school in Park Rapids, MN. Stacey had fond childhood memories and received an excellent education. She was blessed with an amazing special education teacher who went above and beyond by providing fun learning experiences and coordinating many wonderful events and adventures in the community for Stacey and her classmates. Stacey walked with the graduating class of 1990 and participated in the graduation ceremony. She also proudly participated in Special Olympics and competed in swimming events.
In the late 90’s Stacey moved to St. Michael, MN with her mother and then soon after to Buffalo, MN which she would make her permanent home. Stacey lived at three residences over the years and with her participation at Functional Industries and by attending community events, Stacey had many friends in Buffalo. Most recently, she lived at Misty Meadows and was surrounded by a compassionate and loving team who cared for her in her final days.
Stacey was a social butterfly and a fun-loving person. She enjoyed bowling, listening to music, dancing, picnics, parades, crafting, puzzles, and making cards and letters. She was a girly girl who was often spotted wearing something pink or sparkly and definitely wearing her many rings and bracelets. Above all else, what mattered most to Stacey was spending time with her family. She absolutely loved family gatherings, holidays, celebrations, birthday parties, and weddings. But equally as meaningful were the simple visits, lunches, or outings to the coffee shop.
Stacey had a kind, generous, and joyful heart. Simply stated, to know her was to love her. She was quick with a smile and a hug, to make you laugh and to lift your spirits by just being with her.
Stacey is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Viola Johnson. She is survived by her siblings, Barb Johnson, Harold (Debbie) Johnson, Howard (Lorraine) Johnson, Carl (Connie) Johnson, Carol (Randy) Makela, and Sherry (Jim) Doyle; nieces and nephews Marcus, Angela, Natalie, Adam, Andrea, Amy, Lance, Lacee, James, Mallory, Kalli, and Abby; 28 great nieces and nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

So sorry for your loss. Sending prayers and hugs your way.
Aunt Stacey was a very kind and loving person. She even remembered our anniversary, for years we received hand written cards reminding us of our special day. It warms my heart to think of her, wearing my veil, and dancing. And yes, her hugs were especially wonderful. As a receiver of many of them, I know that when she hugged you, her heart was present in the moment and she cared about you. We will miss her.
I am so sorry to hear of Stacey’s passing, she was such a bright light in her community.I use to be one of her caretakers, she has always held a special place in my heart. My condolences to her family, 😢 RIP sweet Stacy.
