Sonja A. Kirschenman, age 43 of Rockford, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 7, 2009 in Plymouth.

Sonja Ann was born on January 14, 1966 to Frederick & Mazel (nee: Lundell) Witt in Kansas City, Missouri. A class of 1984 graduate of Warsaw High School, Warsaw, Indiana. Sonja attended Iowa University and colleges in Marshall, Mankato & Worthington, Minnesota. On January 10, 1994 she married Randy Kirschenman in Iowa. She worked as a waitress at the Perkins in Buffalo and a restaurant in Rogers. She also worked at the Coborn’s deli in Delano & the Subway in Rockford. Her joy was to spend time going to children’s museums, playing board, computer games, canoeing along the Crow River & going for walks with her husband & children. She also enjoyed reading.

Survived by: husband, Randy; daughter, Tiffany; son, Austin; stepson, Matthew Kirschenman; step-daughter, Corrina Woodhull; father, Frederick Witt, St. Louis, MO; brother, Charles Witt, Austin, TX; three grandchildren; parents-in-law, Carol & Billy Norton Rockford, MN; sister-in-law, Carol (Troy) Freeman, Anoka, MN; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Shari) Kirschenman, Albertville, MN; five nieces; one nephew and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mazel (nee Lundell) Witt & brother-in-law, Rodney Dean Kirschenman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Father Timothy Rudolphi will be the celebrant.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at The Peterson Chapel – Buffalo funeral home, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Additional visitation one hour prior to mass at church.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred.
