Shirley Jean Carlson, age 86, of St Michael, passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2012.

She was born the daughter of Archie Martin and Edna (Dick) Martin on July 13th, 1926 in Ostego, Minnesota.

She married Russell Carlson on April 25th, 1948.

Survived by her two children, Claudia Zupon (Ron Wadsworth) of Corcoran, and Roger (Joanne) Carlson of Outing; four grandchildren, Michele (Michael) Stromgren, Melissa (David) Gulner, Jeff Wadsworth and Brad Wadsworth; four great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by step-sisters and step-brothers: Ilo Madden, Jerilyn “Jeri” and John Breigenzer, Theodore “Ted” (Jenee Johnson) Martin, and Duane (Bobbie) Martin; sister-in-law Ruth Anderson and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Russell, parents Archie and Edna Martin, step mother Anna Martin.

Shirley and Russell lived in Robbinsdale for many years, raising their family. In 1969, they moved to Rockford and lived there for a few years and then built a home in St. Michael.

Services for Shirley Carlson will be held at 10:00 A. M. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville

In the interest of medicine, Shirley unselfishly donated her body to The University of Minnesota

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sunrise Assisted Living in Buffalo for the loving care they gave Shirley for the last 5 years. Also, thank you to family and friends who visited her.

The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville assisted the family with arrangements.

    My thoughts and prayers are with you. Shirley will be missed by her friends at Sunrise. Our card players miss her. She loved going on the bus and out to lunch and eating a mushroom/swiss burger. We will miss her on our bus outings. Good-bye Shirley.
