April 30, 1936 – February 29, 2020

Shirley Ann Mahoney, age 83, of Buffalo passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on April 30, 1936 in Marysville Township, Wright County the daughter of Ervin and Evelyn (Marquette) Vieau.

Shirley graduated from Buffalo High School in 1954.

On September 15, 1956, Shirley Ann Vieau and John H. Mahoney were joined in holy marriage at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with a son.

She was employed for many years at Persian Business Machines, then later in an orthodontist office and finally at Dr. Marine’s dental office before retiring.

Shirley was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.

She enjoyed golfing, biking, dancing, snowmobiling and walking as was also an avid reader. Shirley was also fond of watching her son Michael play hockey. She loved her family and always supported her husband and son in their interests and activities. Shirley was very close to her sister Sharon and they shared a special relationship.

For several years after retirement, Shirley and John wintered in Sun City, Arizona. John preceded his wife in death on April 7, 2017.

Survived by a loving son: Michael John Mahoney of Trabuco Canyon, California; a sister: Sharon (Ron) Bruhn of Buffalo; a brother: Robert (Janice) Vieau of Hamel; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother Donald Vieau and by her parents.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Mahoney will be held on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Father Nathaniel Meyers will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4th from 4-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning, March 5th one hour prior to Mass at the church.
