Selma “Sally” Ronning, age 95, of St. Michael, MN, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, MN.
She was born on April 18, 1915, in St. Michael, the daughter of Isador and Lena Zachman Gutzwiller.
On June 14, 1941, Selma “Sally” Gutzwiller and Sig A. Ronning were joined in holy marriage at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with five children.
Sally was a faithful, lifelong member of The Church of St. Michael. She was a former lector and Eucharistic Minister delivering communion to the home bound for her Parish. She had belonged to The Christian Mother’s since 1942.
Sally was a volunteer at Park View Care Center for more than forty years. She also belonged to the Auxiliary of The American Legion Post in St. Michael.
Through the years, she gave a lot of blood to the American Red Cross.
Survived by children: Dorothy (Lyle) Reinking of Rogers, MN, Delores (C.H. “Butch”) Melton of Elk River, MN, Donna (David) Otten of Big Lake, MN, and Richard (Jeanie) Ronning of Rogers; grandchildren: John T. (Kim) Lenz, Eric (Kate) Ronning, Patrick (Kim) Ronning, Les (Lisa) Reinking, Kathy (Tom) Wendel, Teri (Ted) Hight, Cherri (George) Kline and Krista (Rick) Jusczak; many great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren; sisters: Meralda Brandon and Mercedes “Toots” Heckler both of Monticello, a sister-in-law: Florence Gutzwiller of St. Michael; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by husband: Sig A. Ronning, parents: Isador and Lena Gutzwiller, a daughter: Debbie Baert, 3 brothers: Clarence, Omer and Hermes Gutzwiller and 2 sisters: Lavina and Sarah Scherber.
Mass of Christian Burial for Sally Ronning was held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 5th at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.
A visitation was held AT THE CHURCH 9-11 A.M. Thursday, August 5th.
