Sandra Jean Swartzer

Loving wife, mother and grandmother passed peacefully in her home on Sept. 3rd 2013, surrounded by close family. Sandy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was known for her thoughtfulness and kindness to all. Sandy loved caring for others, which was shown through her 40 plus years as a registered nurse. Sandy enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with family. She made every effort to attend every play, game, or any other event possible. She wanted to make sure that you knew she was proud of you. She is survived by Anthony, her loving husband of 42 years and their six children, Jacob (Alison Swartzer), Nicole (Chad Olson), Bridget (Christopher Matzdorf), Erin (Marc Kohler), Meagen (Christian Luoto), and Patrick Swartzer (fiancé, Jamie Barnett). Also survived by father, Ralph Gallus, brothers Joseph and John Gallus and sisters Joy Hickman, Debra Becklund, Shirley Kallunki and Shawn Karl. Grandchildren Harriet, Elisabeth, Katherine, Frank, Jack, Nicole, Truman, Louise, Eleanor, Isabel, Frederick and Hazel and over a hundred nieces and nephews! Sandy was preceded in death by her mother Shirley (Keeler) Gallus, sister Molly Gallus, niece Katherine Hickman, and granddaughter Margaret Swartzer. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9th from 4-8 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, September 10th from 9:30-10:15 A.M. at the church. Sandy and I worked at the Retirement Ctr. now Parkview, she was a great co-worker. She was always happy and her most memorable quality was her jolly laugh along with her caring nature. She touched many peoples heart and I am glad she touched mine. With Sympathy and prayers.

My sincere sympathy to all of you. Sandy was a one of a kind. One of our last conversations was at the apple orchard. We would talk about our mom’s, (who graduated from Roosevelt High School together)our times at the farm riding the pony, our grandchildren, and other Delano/Watertown memories. Sandy will be missed.

Sandy was my oldest niece I thought of her as my sister. We could talk for hours about everything especially our children and grandchildren. She brought so much happiness in my life. My love and prayers to all her family. I will miss her dearly.

My sympathy to the Swartzer and Gallus families. I have so many wonderful memories of your families from the county fair. I remember Sandy as a very kind and happy mother who always sported a smile! If anyone should get the fast track to heaven, she seems to be a great candidate! Blessings to you all.

    Swartzer Clan,
I’m so sorry for your loss. What I remember most about Sandy was how her eyes crinkled when she smiled. She was never at a loss for positive encouragement or a kind word. Heaven is lucky. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sending my sympathy to one of my favorite families to babysit. I think of the Swartzer family often when recalling my teenage babysitting days. What a wonderful family! My prayers and thoughts are always with you especially during this time of loss.
