I have just spent the last hour looking at pictures I had taken of my students, during the 2003-2004 school year, when Sam was in my second grade classroom. I knew him as a 7 year old boy who was pretty quiet, always helpful, and usually had a big smile just waiting to show itself on his face.
Today, enroute to a funeral in another town, I learned of the tragedy of Sam’s death. I am so saddened by this news, and know the world has lost a wonderful person.
My heart goes out to all his family and friends, and I hope that great memories of Sam will help to sustain you in the days to come.
God be with you at this difficult time.
