July 7, 1934 – February 13, 2024

Ruth Ellen (Elgard) Stansbury, age 89 years and 7 months, of St. Michael, MN passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 13, 2024.

She was born to Carl and Clara (Frazier) Berg on July 7, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN.  She was the youngest of seven siblings:  Gaius, Lorraine, Eunice, David, Reuben and Les.  All have preceded her in death.  Ruth was married twice.  First to Donald Elgard and later to Robert Stansbury, who had one son at the time, Rob.  Both husbands preceded Ruth in death.  She has lived in Minneapolis, Bloomington, Burnsville, Richfield, Edina and St. Michael.

Ruth is survived by her sister-in-law Beverly Berg, brother-in-law Tim Clift, her four sons:  Dwight, David, Daniel and Douglas (Elgard); her daughters-in-law Ruth, Karen, Brenda and Cindy.  She was greatly blessed with 63 grand and great-grandkids….with the 63rd being born the day after her passing.

Ruth loved Jesus!  She put her trust in Him when she was 7 years old and she kept her faith in Him to the very end of her life!  Besides her first love Jesus, she loved her kids and grandkids.  Ruthi loved all people well and she had many precious friends!

The family wants to acknowledge The Legacy of St. Michael (care facility where Ruthi lived) and the North Memorial Hospice people.  They gave mom much loving care to the very end of her life….Thank you!

Final thoughts:  Ruth spent her life standing on the promises of God….Now, she is standing on the streets of gold in the very presence of Jesus!  Amen!

Beautiful obituary!! A bitter and sweet time for the Elgard family. Bitter as you miss her and mourn the loss of her earthly presence, but so sweet that she is home in paradise seeing her Lord face to face. Our prayers are with you though we are unable to be present for the funeral service.
