Ruth Ellen Peikert was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 18, 1944 to Max and Thorine Peikert of Buffalo, MN. She was baptized at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford, MN b yPastor S. Baer on August 20, 1944. Ruth was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Cross on March 30, 1958 by Pastor Norval Koch. She attended Rockford Schools grades 1-8. High school and college were at Dr. Martin Luther College at New Ulm, MN graduating in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Ruth served in teacher and/or principal capacities at Emmanuel Lutheran DePere WI, Lutheran Heights in Des Moines IA, Zion Lutheran at Valentine NE, and Mount Lebanon Lutheran Milwaukee WI. After a teaching career, she attended the University of Wisconsin, Cardinal Stitch College, and the Institute of Clinical Social Work all in Milwaukee. Ruth received degrees of Master of Social Work and Master of Education. As a Christian Therapist and Counselor, she joined Wisconsin Child and Family Services, Milwaukee and Morton Grove IL, providing services to the community from 1983 until 2006. She retired in 2006 and moved to Luther Haven Retirement Center in Milwaukee. Her last years found physical and mental health declining. Ruth went to be with her Lord Jesus on February 10, 2018. Preceding her in death was her parents Max and Thorine Peikert, brother Mark S. Peikert, sister-in-law L. Gayle Peikert. Mourning her passing is brother John (Evangeline) of Pine City, MN; niece Brandee Peikert of Grand Rapids MN; nephew Brady (Shannon) Peikert; grandnieces Mackenzie and Taylor all of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law Connie W. Catlin of Mahtomedi MN; and many past friends and associates. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Memorial Service that will be at 3:30 PM on April 8, 2018 at Risen Savior Lutheran, 9550 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee WI 53224. Pastor Peter Leyrer will lead the service. Memorials preferred to WELS Time of Grace or American Cancer Society.

    I will be thinking of family and friends this Sunday. I have good memories of fun times with Ruth. She gave a lot of love and guidance to the kids she taught and to the kids and adults she counseled.
