Visitation Information

Russell E. Bistodeau, age 69, of St. Michael, MN, passed away at his home Thursday, August 12, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He died from melanoma.

He was born in Monticello Twp., Wright County, MN, on January 26, 1941, the son of Edmund and Louise Psyk Bistodeau.

Russell graduated from Elk River High School in 1959, and was the class president.

On June 15, 1963, Russell Bistodeau and Theresa Berning were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church. God blessed their marriage with five children.

He was a member for thirty two years of Iron Workers Local #512.

Russell was a faithful member of the Church of St. Michael. He ushered for many years. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters.

He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with people, and always had a good sense of humor. Russ was especially fond of his grandchildren.

Survived by loving wife of forty-seven years: Theresa; children: Kris (Doug) Dick, Kevin (Ann) Bistodeau, Kelly (Larry) Kasper, Karen (Chuck) Vetsch and Kurt Bistodeau; eleven grandchildren; three sisters: Sylvia (Jerry) LeFebvre, Rebecca (Todd) Lohse and Lois (Bill) Roden; a brother: Richard (Nancy) Bistodeau; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Dale (Lorraine) Anselment, Mary (Jerry) Scherber, Norman (Doreene) Berning and David (Sandy) Berning; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons: Timothy and Zachary Kasper; and by two sisters: Nancy Schumacher and Mary Anselment; a brother-in-law: Ernest “Ernie” Schumacher; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harry and Martha Berning.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Russell Bistodeau was held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 17th at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.

Interment followed at the St. Michael Cemetery.
