Ruby Stella Nieskens, age 89, of Buffalo passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on April 16, 1923 in Monticello Township to Henry H. and Emma (Westphal) Block. Ruby was united in marriage to Gordon Henry Nieskens on June 7, 1944 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monticello and moved to the family farm the next day. There she raised her five children.
Ruby was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo. She enjoyed raising chickens on the farm while working at Buffalo Veneer and Plywood for 28 years. After she retired, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, scrapbooks, and baking bars for her many grandchildren that visited often.
Survived by her children, Lucille (Robert) Lundy, Delores (Jerry) Ennis, Darlene McDougall, Joette (Charles) Tilbury, and Merle (Caryn) Nieskens, twenty grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Block, sisters Florence and Gladys and twin brothers, Victor and Vernon.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Buffalo.
Casket bearers will be Jesse Ennis, Chad McDougall, Damon Yanta, Troy Hoefling, Jim Hanson, and Justin Nieskens.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4-7 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN.
A luncheon will be served following the funeral service at the church.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
