Visitation Information

Roy Varner, 94, of Buffalo passed away Friday, August 29th, 2008 in Delano.

He was born May 4th, 1914 to Zack and Annie (nee Olson) Varner in Buffalo, Minnesota. He was the 6th and 12 children. His grandfather was Lafayette Varner, one of six brothers, who came to Buffalo in the late 1800’s from Pennsylvania to settle and farm north of Buffalo. As a young man, Roy worked at the Buffalo Creamery and later at Minneapolis Moline and White Motors in Hopkins. He was a hobby farmer and a member of the Northern Minnesota Draft Horse Association.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife Ledena (nee Eull); sisters: Lillian Stevens and Bernice Petersen; brothers: Elmer, James, Lafayette, Orville, and Marvin; and by a grandson-in-law: Matthew Staloch.

He is survived by daughter: Barbara Johnson; granddaughters: Tamara (Tim) Stevens, Lisa (Darci) Ernst, Robin Staloch, and Heather (Milos) Tomadies; great-grandchildren: Brittany Ernst Colman, Katie Ernst, Zachary Staloch, Hannah Staloch, Mckenzie Stevens, and Duncan Stevens; sisters: Dorothy Norby, and Mary Ellen Kalin; brothers: Clyde and Vance; nephews, nieces and many other good friends and family members.

Roy’s memorial service will be at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church (507 County Road 134) on Wed, Sept 3rd at 11am. Visitation will begin at 10am.

Interment will be the Lakeview Cemetery of Buffalo.

Memorials are preferred and will be donated to the Wright County Heritage Center.

    My sympathy to Roy’s family. He was a wonderful man and I am so grateful to have had the chance to get to know and care for him while he lived at Sunrise. He will be missed!
