Ronald August Vetsch, age 71 of Buffalo, MN, passed away May 26, 2020.
He was born on November 17, 1948, the oldest child of Cletus and Delphine (Kasper) Vetsch. He and his siblings were raised on the family farm in Albertville.
Shortly following high school, Ron enlisted to serve in the Navy at only 17 years old. He worked as an engineer on a destroyer during the Vietnam Conflict. He proudly served his country for 4 years and was discharged from his military duties in 1969.
Once he returned to the United States, he lived and worked in the west Twin Cities metro, raising his children in Maple Grove. He got into computer technology and worked in IT. In 2015, he moved to Buffalo where he purchased a hobby farm.
Ron was a devoted and loving father to his two children. He was always putting their needs first and held several jobs to provide for their well-being when they were growing up. He loved being a parent; he was a natural care giver and had a nurturing heart. In the more recent years, he became a grandfather; another title he absolutely loved having! He would spend his free time enjoying science fiction as he was fascinated by gadgets. He was a family man, who created special and memorable moments with them. He especially enjoyed projects with grandson, Eli. Apart from family, he was also devoted to his strong faith in the Lord and one time was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Ron is preceded in death by his grandson, August; parents, Cletus and Delphine; brothers, Allen, Mark, and Loren Vetsch; and sisters, Annette Vetsch and Dorothy Brabec.
He is survived by his children, Andrew (Rachel) Vetsch and Rebecca (Timothy) Vaughn; grandchildren, Lilliana, Elijah, Avalynn, and Charlie; siblings, Betty (Phil) Horsch, Patty (Gary) Lenz, Marvin (Brenda) Vetsch, and Keith (Tara) Vetsch; brother-in-law, Ed Brabec; sister-in-law, Kris Vetsch; and many other relatives and friends.
The family asks in lieu of floral arrangements, please make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans in his name.
A private visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 5-7 PM at The Peterson Chapel in St. Michael, MN.
A public Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 5:00 PM at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville, MN. Social distancing regulations and safety precautions must be taken if you plan on attending Mass. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

This is such sad news. Ron was a great person, family man and coworker. He will be missed by everyone that had the honor of getting to know him. I am so sorry for all, for the loss of such a great man, father, husband and friend.

Very sorry for your loss. He was a great co-worker and was always very helpful in finding an answer or he knew of an answer. He loved talking about his grandchildren and what he was doing on the farm. I will greatly miss him.
I worked with Ron many years ago and he was the nicest guy you would ever meet with an outstanding work ethic. He will be greatly missed by many. My condolences to his family.
