Rome W. Phillips, age 61, of Buffalo passed away on Thursday, November 28th, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

He was born on April 22, 1952 in Minneapolis the son of Maurice A. & Ruth Sigafoos Phillips Jr.

He was formerly employed as a material handler in a Warehouse for Tennant Company for thirty years.

He enjoyed watching his sons play softball and The Minnesota Vikings. Family was everything to Rome especially his grandchildren.

Survived by his children: Dean (Kelly) Phillips and Brian (Jamie) Phillips all of Buffalo, Justin (Tabitha) Phillips of Montrose, Jess (Tricia) Vraspir and Jeremy (Ann) Broking all of Rockford; love of his life: Rebecca Arradondo; five grandchildren: Paityn, MacKenzie & Jocelyn and Lucas & Carter; two sisters: Laurie Clement and Madalyn Duffy; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his mother, two sisters and by a brother.

Funeral services for Rome Phillips will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 A.M. at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Private interment Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal, Minnesota.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 2nd from 4-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd one hour prior to services at the church.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Mark Johnson, Steve “Pork” Burkowski and Bill Clement.

Casket Bearers will be Dean Phillips, Brian Phillips, Justin Phillips, Jess Vraspir, Jeremy Broking and Steve Peickert.

    We were blessed and honored with the years that we got to live next to Rome and become wonderful friends with him. He treated our children as if they were his own grandchildren and always welcomed us in as a family with open arms. We will miss him deeply. We love you so much Rome and we are going to miss you each and every day.

    I am a 3rd cousin of Rome’s and was blessed to meet him at a family reunion in MN in 2008. I am a descendant of the SIGAFOOS line.
    You are all in my heart and prayers at this most difficult time in your lives. May you all be blessed with Rome’s memories and family love.
