Roger Andrew Braatz, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Tuesday, December 20.

Roger was born April 9, 1938, in Litchfield, MN to Andrew and Jeanette Braatz. He has one sister and three brothers – Jeanne, John and Stan; preceded in death by Donn. Roger had a strong work ethic that carried through his life. Even in retirement, he spent some of his time driving people in the community to medical appointments.

Roger had a gift of making everyone feel like family. His friendly smile and sense of humor immediately put you at ease. He constantly would check in on people and was always quick to lend a hand. His friends and family describe Roger as nothing but kind, thoughtful, caring, warm, awesome and wonderful.

Roger was a strong, gentle, loving and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. Roger loved John Deere equipment and was a collector of many tractors which he enjoyed sharing with his kids and grandkids.

Roger was blessed with a large family. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his children, David Braatz, Andrea (Donovan) Hanson, Beth (Chris) Chapman, Dustin (Erin) Erickson, Brianna (Tony) Sylvers, Chantel Braatz; step-children Tina (Brent) Cremers, Jeff (Kristin) Birkholtz, Tammy (Brian) Schaust, Jodi (Steve) Donovan; grandfather to 24; great-grandfather to 12.

Roger was preceded in death by his son, Mark Braatz; grandson Daniel Braatz, parents and brother.

Roger’s strong legacy will be carried on through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – the lives he formed and touched with his gentle heart.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, MN.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Catholic Charities of St. Cloud (Meals on Wheels)

    Andrea- I recall how much time you two spent together. You were always going to your Dad’s home to visit and care for him. What a great daughter! You were virtually inseparable.     Roger was a great cousin, and he was willing to do almost anything for a person. When we would show cattle at the Meeker County fair in 4H he let my brother and I stay there when we to need so our parents have to worrier about us or come get us. Our sympathies go out to the rest of the Braatz Family.
