Rodney Peter Walters, age 80, of Buffalo, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on March 25, 1942 in Watkins, the son of Peter and Evelyn (Rodenwald) Walters.

He was a graduate of Kimball High School – Class of 1960.

On March 3, 1962, Rodney Walters and Mary Sue Liedman were joined in holy marriage at St Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball.

Rodney was a lifetime member (50+ Years) of Bricklayers Local Union #1 and retired from Axel H. Ohman Concrete and Masonry.

Dad was a humble man – he never spoke of himself and did not want others to talk about him, in terms of accolades, either.  However, he was very quick to give a detailed explanation of his grandchildrens’ successes!  His favorite role was being Grandpa to ten and Great Grandpa to three!  He enjoyed rocking them when they were babies, playing ball with them in the backyard, taking them on pony rides, watching their sporting events & horse shows, being there when first deer were taken, and sharing big hugs.

He enjoyed raising and showing American Quarter and Paint horses, along with Red Angus beef cattle.  Hunting, fishing and farm work were some of his favorite activities.  He truly appreciated the simple things in life…eating venison he had shot and potatoes from his garden.

He was a devoted husband to Mary for 60 years.  Other survivors include his Daughters, Lynn (John) Leuer, Susan Brown and Son, Ronald; ten grandchildren, Kevin (Kelsey) Brown, Amelia (Peter) Lyngdal, Katie (Jason) Childers, Joe Brown, Donnie Leuer, Jacob Walters, Nick Walters, Carl Leuer and Zach Walters; three great grandchildren, Legend, Zane and Kelaiah Brown; Sisters Donna (Mike) Bauer, Janice Conley; Brother David (Barb) Walters and Brother-in Law Bill (Barb) Liedman.

Preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Annette Leuer; son-in-law Earle Brown; three brothers Wayne, Gene and Bob.

Funeral services for Rodney P. Walters will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at St Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church located at 1867 95th Street SE in Delano.  Fr Paul Kubista will officiate.  A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00, at the church prior to the funeral.

The family would like to extend our special thanks to the Allina Health Cancer Institute of Buffalo and Allina Health Hospice for your kindness and gentle care of our Dad during his illness.  Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested.

Sending lots of love to all of Rod’s family and thinking of everyone during this difficult time. Wish we could be there to celebrate his life. His giant smile and soft demeanor always come to mind when I think of Rod. God bless all of you.

Many great memories will give you solace and comfort in the days ahead.
Personally, my family is grateful for the time we got a wonderful pony from Rod named Pumpkin. She was the best!

    Mary and family,
I’m just seeing this and want to offer my deepest sympathy! I will remember Rod for his love of horses. I always enjoyed riding past your house and seeing him out with the horses. I’d often stop to talk to you Mary and he’d come over to say hi and give my horse a pat. I’m sure you miss him very much. Sending hugs, Jean Robin Martell
