McEachern, Robert O., age 80, of Buffalo, formerly of St. Michael, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Sunrise Cottages of Buffalo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert ˜Irish™ and Grace McEachern of Delano. Bob is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; daughters, Mary (Gary) Williamson, Susie (David) Seestrom; sons, Patrick, Terry (Lori), William (Dominick), Thomas (Kristi); 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. Bob served in the US Navy in both WWII and the Korean War; was a school teacher for 22 years, mayor of St. Michael for 4 years, and a State Representative of District 19a for 20 years (1972-92), where he served as Chairman of House Education Committee. Bob™s career was dedicated to the education of Minnesota™s school children. His major legislative accomplishments included a major expansion of Minnesota™s Community Education system, secondary and post-secondary programs, and he was recognized by the Minnesota Library Association for his leadership on public library issues. Former Senator and Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey initially encouraged Bob to run for the Legislature and Bob considered his relationship with Humphrey to be one of his special friendships. Bob fought the battle of Alzheimer™s Disease for the past 7 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 11, 2008, at 10:00 AM at HISTORIC St. Michael Catholic Church. Memorial gathering will be from 4-8 PM on Sunday at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the start of service on Monday. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:30 PM, assembly area #6. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer™s Association, 4550 W 77th Street #200, Minneapolis, MN 55435.

Bob will be deeply missed by all of us who got to share in his life, Thank you for letting me care for him the last few years. I will miss his family as well. I will fondly remember the times I spent with him singing ” you are my sunshine” and twinkle Twinkle little star” such a kind gentle man he will be missed very much
