Robert “Bob” John Wiczek, Age 58 of Elk River MN, devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 19, 2011.
Bob was born on April 22, 1953 to Lucille and John Wiczek in International Falls, MN. Bob was a Marine with the United States Marine Corps and later rose to the ranks of Journeyman with the Iron Workers Local 512. For the past 25 years Bob has worked for Linco Companies as an Iron Worker, Estimator and Project Manager which ultimately led to his most prized position the “C.E.P.”
Bob enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his family, friends and beloved lab Daisy. He was a skilled and avid deer hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, especially at “the shack” where “if it had four legs and was brown, it was down.”
Bob is survived by his daughters Sarah and Mary, grandson Hunter, sisters; Judy (Randy) Olafson of International Falls MN, Sandy (Bob) Olean of Carlton MN and Jean (Gus) Holm of Warroad MN, brothers; Terry (Sandy) Wiczek of Baudette MN, Bill (Beth) Wiczek of Yucca Valley CA, and Dennis Wiczek of Anaheim CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lucille Wiczek and baby brothers Timothy and James.
A memorial visitation for Bob will be held on Sunday, July 24th from 4-8 PM at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main Street N., St. Michael, MN. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25th at 11:00AM with a one hour visitation prior to service at the St. Michael Catholic Church, 11300 Frankfort Parkway NE, St. Michael, MN.
I was lucky enough to have dinner several times with the Linco group, of which Bob “the builder” was a part. He always had many stories regarding steel erection and hunting which he shared amid much laughter. Our company considered him to be a friend who could always be counted on whenever we asked for his help. We will miss his humor and expertise!
Sarah and Mary Catherine, I am very sorry to hear about your father. He was a wonderful person. Joeleen Kennedy
