September 28, 1931 – March 7, 2024

Robert Frank Colebank passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2024 at the age of 92.

He was born September 28, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to Donald & Merle (Laflin) Colebank.

Bob graduated from North High School in 1949.  After graduation, Bob attended the University of Minnesota St. Paul Ag Campus and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Dairy Science and Agriculture Economics. He spent many summers working on his grandparents farms in Madelia and Maple Grove, MN. Bob told his mother in his younger years that he always wanted to be a dairy farmer.

On September 17, 1955, Bob married the love of his life, Ruth (Pipenhagen) Colebank and they were married for 68 years.

Bob and his wife Ruth, began farming in Maple Grove and then eventually moved to Corcoran, MN in 1968 where they farmed until retirement in 1996. They were currently residing in Buffalo, MN since 2006.  Bob was awarded Outstanding Farmer of Hennepin County in 1963 and 1968 and also Farm Family of the Year for Hennepin County in 1984. In addition to farming, he also served 3 years on the City of Corcoran Planning Commission, 16 years as treasurer for Hennepin County Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Treasurer for Burschville Coop, Wright-Hennepin Electric Trust Board and treasurer for Immanual United Methodist Church.

Bob is survived by his loving wife: Ruth; and children; Scott (Julie Berning) Colebank, Leanne LaFave (Chuck Dressen) and Linne (Bruce) Lemke; daughter-in-law: Kim Colebank and fiance Ken Shank; sister: Margaret (Bob) Telander; grandchildren: Tonya (Mike Witt) LaFave, Holly (Hollis) Larson, John (Heather) LaFave, Jason (Catie) Colebank, Brianna (Chris) Gadacz, Jenna Colebank, Brittni (Jon) Wawra & Brielle (Domanick) Bainey.  Bob was very proud of his 25 great grandchildren and attended many of their sporting and school activities.  He loved all his extended family and friends so much!

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, son Robert, granddaughter Jessie LaFave and son-in-law, Ed LaFave.

Visitation Monday, March 11 at Peterson Chapel, 300 Main St N, St Michael, MN from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, March 12th at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 10025 Brockton Ln N, Corcoran MN at 11:00 AM with a reviewal one and a half hours before.   Pastor Abigail Falk will officiate.    Pianist is Leanne LaFave and soloist is Dale Brown.

A lunch will be provided at the church after the service.
