Robert C. Sinclair, age 84 passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2015 & went to rest with his eternal Father after a courageous battle with ALS. He was dedicated husband/father/grandfather who loved his family.
Bob was born on June 21, 1931 to Ralph & Agnes (Chall) Sinclair. When he was in his teens, the family purchased a resort on Lake Rebecca in the Rockford area where he met Aldoris (Doris) Lieder, who became his high school sweetheart. After graduation Bob joined the US Navy & served out his enlistment. As there were no suitable jobs available, he re-enlisted as an Air Control Man. He was so lonesome for Doris that he requested a 4 day leave, drove back to MN & they married in 1951 at Calvary Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis. They loaded up the ’38 Plymouth with all their worldly possessions & headed back to Glenview Naval Air Station in Illinois.
After 5 years when his enlistment was up, they moved back to Minnesota & purchased a home in Robbinsdale. Timothy Sinclair was born in December of 1961 & Kristine was born in January of 1963. As the kids grew, they returned to the Rockford area for more space, building a home on 5 acres north of town. Bob was working for the State of Minnesota maintaining Highway Patrol communications & was promoted to a management position, which required him to live within a certain distance from work. Their current home was just over the limit, so they sold & rebuilt at the location in Maplewood Manor in their current home 43 years later.
Bob retired after 30 years at the state & was enjoying life with Doris, family & friends when he was diagnosed with ALS approximately 6 years ago. He remained strong, always willing to help with what he could around the house, never complaining when he was put on a feeding tube & not being able to enjoy some of his favorite meals, even during holidays. Even with his physical health vanishing, his mental health was with him to the end. We were blessed with more years than expected, but he will deeply missed.
He is survived by Doris, wife of 64 years; son, Tim (Debbie) Sinclair; daughter, Kris (Steve) Thomas; 5 grandchildren, Nick, Molly, Karl, Luke & Hannah; 3 great-grandchildren, Addie, Brynn & Gavin; sisters, Sally (Jim) Swedberg, Lynn Sinclair, Lynda (David) Berglund; brother, Michael (Linda) Sinclair; brother-in-law, Bernard Lieder & nieces & nephews.
Preceded in death by beloved sister Joan Sinclair & parents, Agnes & Ralph Sinclair
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Park Nicollet Hospice or DAV (Disabled American Veterans)

So sorry to hear this. Bob gave me a chance at MN Dot. He was like a father figure. I think of his wit often.
