Rita Mae Wilson (Freund), age 78 of St. Michael, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 from ovarian cancer. Coming from a very large German family, Rita was born January 27, 1939, the daughter of Gerhard and Irene (Hughes) Freund.
Rita was born and raised in Plymouth, MN and grew up on the old farm place, now known as the Plymouth Industrial Park. She was a 1957 graduate from Wayzata High School and worked at M.A. Mortenson Co. in Golden Valley, retiring in 2004. Rita enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family –especially her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard and Irene Freund; and brother, Gary Freund.
Rita is survived by her son, Chuck (Aubrey) Wilson of Mound; daughter, Rebecca (Ross) Rossner of St. Michael; grandchildren, Roman and Georgia Wilson, Riley and Ryan Rossner; her beloved cat and buddy, Socks; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rita’s name are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main St N, St. Michael. Private family interment at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery in Medina.
