Richard R. Rick Koring, 48, passed away unexpectedly February 9, 2008, at his home in Corcoran.

Rick was born August 11, 1959 in Elgin, IL to Robert and Lois (nee Spitzack) Koring. A Class of ™77 graduate of Faribault High School, Rick lettered in football and track for which he was a long time record holder in the 100 yard dash. Rick was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time and sharing stories with his family and friends. Rick worked at Sundance Golf and Bowl in Dayton for 30 years, and had been the golf course superintendent since 1985. Rick was a member of the Minnesota Golf Course Superintendent association and the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America. Rick was a member of the Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers and frequently attended services at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

He is survived by his mother, Lois, (Dave) Kolsrud of Faribault; father, Robert (Bonnie) Koring of Buffalo; sisters: Nancy (Dave) Deem of Buffalo, Debra (Jack) Johnson of Mooresvill, NC, and Tracy Koring of Brooklyn Park; as well as nieces and nephews: Alysa Deem (fiancé, Ryan Fajkowski) of Oak Creek, WI, Adam Deem of Buffalo, Jerick (Tammy Anderson) Johnson, Summer and Mercedes Johnson; and grandniece and grandnephew, Jadyn and Tyler Johnson, all of Mooresville, NC.

Rick, your kindness, generosity and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by the entire family and your large circle of friends. We love you.

Funeral Services are 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo. Visitation is Tuesday 4-8 P.M. also at the church. Visitation will resume one hour before the funeral. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to: The Psoriasis Foundation or the American Heart Association.

    Wow, what a shock. I feel deeply saddened. The last time I talked with Rick was over the summer out at Sundance. I used to work at Sundance with Rick, Dave Deem and Ross Butterfield. We used to go over to Dave Deem’s house at lunchtime and share stories as we watched All My Children. Rick was a good friend of mine. Rick was always one to say “Hi Bob, how you doing?” He put a smile on everyone’s face he talked to. Rick, save us a spot on the 1st tee in heaven.
