Richard “Rick” G. Collier, Jr. age 64 of St. Michael, MN passed away on August 1, 2015 at CentraCare Health, Monticello, MN.

Memorial service on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Word of Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers, MN at 11 AM with a visitation from 9:30 – 11 AM also at the church.

Richard “Rick” Collier was born on October 7, 1950 in Minneapolis MN.

Behind Rick’s gruff exterior was a kind and gentle soul. He had a love for the outdoors that was second to his love for his wife, Lisa, to whom he was married to for almost 27 years, and his two children Julia and Grant, whom he adored. His faith in God made him a strong and stable man for them to look up to and he took every opportunity to pass on his words of wisdom to his children in his own gentle way. Rick had a unique sense of humor and a laugh that will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a strong family man and a wonderful provider. His influence in our lives is something that will last far beyond his life here on earth. Rick was the backbone of our family. He was one of a kind. He was a good man.

Preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Lucas Letellier, father-in-law, Gerald Tepley & brother-in-law, James Anderson.

Survived by his wife, Lisa Collier; son, Grant Collier; daughter, Julia (fiancé, Mike Rogers) Collier; brothers, Pat (Carole) Collier & Steve (Patricia) Collier; sisters, Christine (Keith) Klemz & Michele Anderson; many nieces, nephews , relatives & friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

So sad to know of my cousins unexpected passing. Rickey as I always knew him as his Dad’s Jr .. is someone who will be painfully missed by many. Personally he helped me much as part of Mobile Lock & Key .. the trusted guy always sent to my rescue when I locked my keys in my car, broke one off in the ignition, needed deadbolts on my doors replaced .. way back when ..Rickey was always the one sent to my rescue. Being so close to my grandma, Jeanne Collier Daugherty (his aunt)/(my grandma), as I was .. I had many occasions to spend time with him in that time especially. She credited him with labeling the birds she loved to watch on her deck ( the chickadees)as “Ass Ups”.. Ricks name for their typical pose 🙂 Thanks, Rickey, for your many helps and the special person you have been to our family, and the many lives you have touched along the way.

Our deepest condolences to all of Rick’s family. He was clearly loved very much and will be missed. We hope your memories will bring you comfort and peace at this difficult time. How many families have cousins born the same year both named Richard and called Rick? Clearly he was too young to go. Just guessing both Ricks have great memories of their Grandma Lyons famous crepes she could whip up so easily in her little trailer. There is one crazy, big family reunion going on in heaven right now.

I am so sorry and sad to hear about Rick’s passing. The years you spent in the neighborhood were wonderful. I will never forget the night Rick called at 1:00 A.M. or so and asked if I could come watch Julia while you went to the hospital to deliver Grant. I’m sure they are grown by now. I would love to get to the funeral but it’s a work day for me. I will be thinking of you and the kids and sending prayers and blessings your way. Call me or come visit when you can. Love and Hugs! Jan

    Patrick,
I am so sad to hear of Rick’s passing. My heart goes out to you and his family.
I have known Rick for 50 years and we seemed to go through a lot of life’s changes at the same time. We always tried to stay in contact, if only to pop into work to say “hi” and catch up.
I will definitely miss that slow smile. He would hate this but mostly, he was just a nice, good person. Rest in Peace, Rick.
