Richard Paul Otten, 82 of Buffalo, passed away peacefully at Parkview Care Center April 18, 2015 with his sons at his side.

He was born September 21, 1932 at home in Buffalo to Fred and Ella (LaPlant) Otten, one of fourteen children, including his twin brother, Bob.

He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Francis in Buffalo.

On August 27, 1952 he was united in marriage to Shirley Rassat. To this union, four children were born, Walter, Bonnie, Vickie, and Randy. They were divorced in 1979.

He later married Marlowe Minnick on June 16, 1984. She preceded in him in death in 2002.

Richard worked at Maple Lake Creamery for a few years, and then went to work for the Soo Line Railroad where he worked for 25 years.

Later in life, he volunteered at the Parkview Care Center, where he was liked by so many and where his life ended.

He is survived by his three children, Walter (Suzanne) Otten, Bonnie (Mike) Anderson, Randy (Marie) Otten; four grandchildren, Alex Anderson, Joe Otten, Bill Otten, Tom Otten; four step-grandchildren, Peter Daniels, Christopher Carlson, Anthony Carlson, Caty (Denny) Wurm; three step-great-grandchildren, Landon Wurm, Melody Carlson, Kailen Carlson; two brothers, Fritz and Jim (Janice) Otten; two sisters, Marion Muckenhirn and Rosella Muckenhirn; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Otten and Rita Otten; first wife, Shirley Otten; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ella Otten; daughter, Vickie Lynn; two sisters, Emily Gilles and Adeline Dalbec; seven brothers, Leo, Ed, Burt, Joe, Leonard, Bernard, and Bob – his twin; and wife, Marlowe Otten.

Father Nathaniel Meyers will be the Celebrant.

Inurnment at St. Francis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

    To Richard’s family: My husband and I would like to extend our condolenses. We only met him when he moved into Park View — (my mother is Dorothy). He always had a smile, a wave and a greeting when I would walk by — so friendly!! We will miss him!! Jim and Alvina Cook
