Visitation Information

Conlin, Richard Paul “Dick” age 78 died following a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday July 4, 2009 at Ark on the River. He is preceded in death by mother, Loma Marie, father Paul James, and beloved Sheltie, Sadie. He is survived by wife Dorothy, daughters Julie Mueller (Paul) and Susan (Julie Miller), sons Steve (Anne) and John (Christine), grandchildren Jared, Meghan, Chad, Bridget, Jack, Samantha, brother Don, sisters Rosemary and Anna Mae, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. In particular, his wife’s twin sister Suzanne Kemmer and her children Michael, Greg, Paul (Lisa), and Eric (Julie), who were much like his children, will miss him greatly. Dick was born on September 10, 1930 at the family farm in Albertville, MN then graduated from North High School in Minneapolis in 1948. Dick was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served for two years, much to the surprise of his doctors given he battled polio five years previous. Following his time in the service, Dick began his banking career at First National Bank of Minneapolis and retired from Metro Banks where he was president of their Plymouth and Nokomis branches. In his retirement, Dick completed taxes for H&R Block. Dick and Dorothy were married 52 years and raised their family primarily in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Dick was always an active member of his community, he loved spending time with his family at their cabin in Faribault, MN; regularly volunteered at their church, Mary Queen of Peace in Rogers, MN and at Caring and Sharing Hands; attended monthly luncheons with retirees of First National Bank; played couples bridge with the same group for several decades; played in a golf league; enjoyed fishing and in his early years, bowling. We will miss our father deeply, he touched so many people and was always kind and generous with his time. We give a heartfelt “thank you” to our Dad’s care team which included his hospice nurse Lou, hospice aide Megan, hospice social worker Barb, and Donna and her staff at Ark on the River. Our father lived free of pain and was comfortable because of each of you and we thank you for your support, compassion, sensitivity, and thoughtfulness in your work with our father and our entire family.
