Richard Donald Ketterling, age 74 of St. Michael, MN, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was born April 4, 1945 in Oakes, North Dakota, the son of Alvin and Hulda (Isler) Ketterling.
Rich was a 1963 graduate from Lamoure High School in Lamoure, ND and a 1970 graduate from Wahpeton State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND.
On June 25, 1968, Richard Ketterling and Mary Hockert were united in marriage in Wimbledon, ND. The two were blessed with a daughter, Angela. Mary passed away March 24, 2001.
On October 22, 2005, Richard Ketterling and Beth (Balvance) Nienow were united in marriage in Victoria, MN.
Rich enjoyed camping, blue grass music, prairie dog hunting, fishing, and watching football and Nascar. He especially loved his dogs SaVanna and Hank, and spending time with his family.
Rich was a proud Army Veteran and a member of the St. Michael American Legion Post 567. He was also a member of the Hanover Park Board for several years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ketterling; parents, Alvin and Hulda Ketterling; step-son, Scott Giordano; and brother-in-law, Web Allen.
Rich is survived by his wife, Beth Ketterling; daughter, Angela Weigel and her sons Connor and William; step-children, Stephen Giordano and his daughter Pamela, Stacey Giordano, Leah (Morris) Holst, Naomi Nienow, Mark Nienow, Michael (Wanda) Nienow, Paul (Charlotte) Nienow; siblings, Roman (Judy) Ketterling, Priscilla Allen, Lorraine (Paul) Feser, Ken (Chris) Ketterling; and many beloved family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior, at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, MN. Interment with Military Honors at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Richard’s family.

So sorry to hear the loss of Richard. Richard and I did a lot of things together when we where in High School- Richard was a year younger – and they lived about 8-10 miles from our farm. The last time I seen Richard was 5 years ago at my brothers memorial service-so glad I got to see him then. God Bless you during this sad loss.
