Visitation Information
Rev. Marshall H. Averbeck of Buffalo, MN passed away at age 93 on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in his home at Cottagewood Assisted Living after a short bought with Pneumonia. Many of his family were able to express their love to Marshall and say their goodbyes.
Marshall was born December 27, 1922 in Fond du Lac, WI, the son of William and Anna (Seibel) Averbeck. After high school graduation in Fond du Lac, Marshall attended St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, MN as well as Bethel College in Arden Hills, MN. He graduated from SPBC on June 1, 1944.
Marshall was married to Ruth Brueckner on June 10, 1944 in Milwaukee. Together they pastored churches under the Christian and Missionary Alliance for nearly 42 years starting in Iowa, then Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and finally Arkansas. Ruth and Marshall were known for their hospitality to people and faithfulness to God. Preaching the Gospel and living it was their focus in life.
Marshall was preceded in death by Ruth, his wife for 63 years, in March of 2008 and his brother Forrest Averbeck. He is survived by two children, Gary (Carol) Averbeck of Buffalo and Darla (Rev. Stephen) Jones of Brooklyn Park; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and Marshall’s sister Ivabelle Hagar.
Marshall’s memorial service will be planned for later in March at the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo.
