Rena Ruckle, age 98 of Buffalo, MN passed away on June 20, 2013 at Lake Ridge Care Center, Buffalo, MN. Funeral service on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo, MN at 11:00 AM. Visitation on Monday from 5-8 PM at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN & one hour prior to service at the church. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Buffalo, MN.
Rena was born on August 29, 1914 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lammert & Roelfein (Wiersma) Vogel. She was baptized & confirmed in the Lutheran faith as an adult by Rev E.R. Berwald on December 12, 1941. She was united in marriage to Charles Ruckle on June 25, 1932 in Mora, Minnesota. They were parents of two sons, Marvin & Wayne. In 1935 they moved to Buffalo where Rena worked at the Buffalo Hospital as a scrub nurse for 20 years, retiring in October, 1978. After her husband passed away in March, 1986 Rena volunteered at the Buffalo Community Center where she served on the advisory board for many years. She was a volunteer with the hospital auxiliary, Buffalo Senior high school lunch program & many other organizations. In 1992 she was voted Outstanding Wright County Senior Citizen.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Marilyn) Ruckle of Buffalo, MN, daughter-in-law, Dorothy Ruckle of Plymouth, MN; five grandchildren, Debra (Jerry) Showalter, Sandra Polzin, Douglas (Lori) Ruckle. Denise (Don) Nelson, Jason (Carrie) Ruckle; 12 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Lillian Carda of Mora, MN & many relatives & friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, son, Marvin, 2 brothers, 5 sisters & one great-grandchild.
Memorials preferred to St. John’s Evangelical Church.

    Gramma Buns will be dearly missed. She leaves in our hearts and memories her recipes and stories,her smile and her friendship,her compassion for people and animals,her faith in God,and most of all,her love. Rest gently Gramma until we meet again.
