Randall Elwyn “Randy” Manthei, age 61 of Loretto, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home. He was born in Robbinsdale on July 27, 1956 the son of Elwyn and JoAnn (Tiemann) Manthei.
He was baptized at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Corcoran. Randy was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and Confirmed in the Christian Faith on May 17, 1970 by the Reverend Arndt. His confirmation memory verse was Psalm 23:1.
On July 21, 1979, Randy was joined in holy marriage to Cindy Loeffler at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenfield. God blessed their 38 years of marriage with three daughters.
Randy was employed at Layne Minnesota Company. He farmed all his life on his families four generation farm. He enjoyed his 6 years of retirement spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He loved going to his and Cindy’s land on Grove Lake near Glenwood hunting pheasants, deer and turkey, fishing and sitting under his oak tree.
He was a faithful member of Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Randy also served on the Greenwood Cemetery board.
Survived by his loving wife, Cindy Manthei; daughters, Emily (Joel) Splittstozer of Buffalo, Courtney (Tony) Wychgram of Corcoran, Whitney Manthei of Loretto; grandchildren, Avery, Adeline, Micah, Georgia and Oliver; parents, Elwyn and JoAnn Manthei; brother, Doug (Debbie) Manthei; sister, Deb Weinand; mother-in-law, Liz Loeffler; other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his father-in-law, Clarence Loeffler; grandparents; and uncles and aunts.
Funeral services for Randy Manthei will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenfield. The Reverend Paul Schuler will officiate and spring interment Greenwood Cemetery in Burschville. Visitation will be AT THE CHURCH on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with prayer service 7:30 PM. Further visitation one hour prior to services on Friday morning.
Casket bearers will be Fran Nellis, Ron Schmid, Dan Manthei, Steve Freund, Byron Bethke and Denny Schnell.
