March 31, 1926 – November 12, 2022

On Saturday, November 12, 2022 Phyllis M. (Asplund) Deisting, age 96, of Buffalo passed away

peacefully.

Phyllis was born March 31, 1926 in Edina, MN to the late Theodore and Mabel (Beinke)

Asplund, the first of three children. She grew up on her family’s 100 acre strawberry and

raspberry farm. After high school, Phyllis moved to Minneapolis to work for Western Union as a

switchboard operator, where she earned the award for Fastest Switching Clerk in the United

States.

On May 3, 1952, Phyllis and Albert H. Deisting were joined in holy matrimony at Gethsemane

Lutheran Church in Hopkins, MN. Phyllis and Albert loved to travel and were able to visit all

forty-eight lower states, Canada and Mexico. God blessed their marriage in many ways,

including the gift of three sons, Gary, Randy, and Mark.

Phyllis was a consummate caretaker and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She

was always ready to serve something delicious from her kitchen, oftentimes with ingredients

fresh from her garden, which produced bountiful harvests that she shared with family and

friends. Phyllis enjoyed crafting, fishing, playing cards, socializing, and in later years, spending

time with her four grandchildren. She was also a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Phyllis joins the saints in heaven alongside her husband, Albert; and son, Gary. She is survived

by her sons, Randy (Nancy) and Mark (Charlene) Deisting; grandchildren: Ashley, Michael,

Allison, and Missy; sisters Theodora “Buzzy” Olson and Donna Mae Levens; many nieces and

nephews; and friends.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, November 18th, with visitation one

hour prior at Salem Lutheran Church in Greenfield, MN.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 17th, 2022 from 4-7 PM at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael, MN.

The pallbearers will be Ashley Deisting, Michael Deisting, Allison Deisting, Melissa Deisting, Tim Levens and Dwight Deisting.

I had the privilege of becoming good friends with Phyllis when we were at Lake Ridge. It was wonderful to meet her two daughter-in-laws and 2 of her grandchildren. She was really quiet a lady, and I will miss her. We had a lot in common as we were both originally from Edina, MN. I will miss her greatly.
    Love to all, Jody Sehlin
