Visitation Information

Phyllis A. Kirscht, age 66, was born in Coleridge, Nebraska to Henry and Agnes (Backer) Kurtzhals. She grew up in Coleridge, Nebraska and graduated from Coleridge High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Roger Kirscht on November 30, 1963 in Coleridge, Nebraska. The couple settled on the Kirscht family farm in Ostego Township, Wright County, Albertville, MN. To this union, four children were born. After their children were grown, Phyllis worked as an aide for the St. Michael-Albertville School District for several years where she helped transport disabled students. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. You could always find Phyllis tending to the needs of small children and especially babies. Phyllis was a member of St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville, where she volunteered in many of the church programs including CCD, mission sewing, and baking for Caring and Sharing Hands. Her other hobbies included doing crafts, sewing, gardening, and baking those wonderful soft, chewy, chocolate chip cookies.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Roger Kirscht of Albertville, her children; Karen (Tim) Barthel of Albertville, Denise (Scott) Olson of Princeton, Paul Kirscht of Albertville, and Michael Kirscht of Buffalo, six grandchilren; Alexis and Kami Barthel, and Colton, Chase, D.J. and Graham Olson. She is also survived by her siblings; Carolyn (Francis) Steffen of Crofton, Nebraska, Bernadette (Dale) Mc Connell of Fair Grove, Missouri, Violet (Stanley) Pinkelman of Wynot, Nebraska, Marge (Keith) Benoit of Brooking, South Dakota, and Francis (Susan)Kurtzhals of Coleridge, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Agnes Kurtzhals, and her sister Patricia Gubbels.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 from 4-8 PM at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main Street N, St. Michael, Minnesota. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to family and friends who visited and provided support during this difficult time, and to administration and staff at The Legacy of St. Michael, Fairview Hospice Care, Stacy Jensen and her group of nurses for their caring and compassion shown Phyllis during these last months.

The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville assisted the family with arrangements.
