Peter John Goeb, age 61 of Hanover, MN, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on March 14, 2024 with his faithful companion Mya by his side. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.
He was born on November 17, 1962 in Monticello, MN to Norbert and Anita (Walesch) Goeb. He married his best friend and love of his life, Sheila Cole on December 21, 1990 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover. Together they raised two children: their pride and joys, Nicole and Riley.
He worked at Next Day Automation as a “certified turd polisher”. He loved a challenge and wouldn’t stop researching until he found a solution. He was a gentle soul, fixer of all things, and master of taking on numerous household projects, big and small. If he didn’t know how to fix something, he’d learn the skills needed and teach himself. He loved bear and deer hunting at their cabin, and the yearly fishing trip with his childhood buddies and Brother in law, and laughing with his family. He found pride in everything he did! Peter was a proven MacGyver, smoking meats, gardening, canning, creating memories and proved he could always be two steps ahead of you. He always included his children in his never ending projects and wood hauling adventures. Peter will be remembered for his hard work ethic, his natural ability to teach, and his unwavering commitment to his family.
When Nicole and Riley found their partners, Alex and Carly, Peter was so proud of his bonus children. The honored title of Grandpa when he got to hold his cherished Bradley. His legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Norbert and Anita; sister, Karen (Eugene) Illies; brother, Michael Goeb; sister, Gwen Janson; nephew, David Janson; great-nephew, Calvin Krantz; and father-in-law, Ardine Cole.
Peter is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Nicole (Alex) Ohnstad and Riley (Carly) Goeb; grandson, Bradley Ohnstad; siblings, Fran (Rodger) Kehn, Anne Goeb, Ellen (Arnold) Bethke; Mother and Father-in-Law, Barb (Dan) Meyer, Brother and Sister-in-laws Julia Goeb, Gaeten Janson, Tim (Liz) Cole, Melanie (Mark) Thuftedal, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM at The Peterson Chapel – 300 Main Street North, St. Michael, MN.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville. Online condolences for the family may be directed to www.thepetersonchapel.com

Please recieve my heartfelt condolence. As the owner of Next Day Automation from 2011 to 2022, I had the pleasure of working extensively with Pete. He was a very intelligent and streetsmart man. He was also very kind, reliable and had a great sense of humor. You could always rely on Pete showing up and working all day. I will miss our talks about life, children and grandchildren. Pete, thank you for always being there for Next Day Automation and me and for polishing all the turds, exposing the gold.
