Peter Hulzebos, age 80, of Buffalo, formerly of the Rockford area, passed away August 26, 2011 at his home.

He was born January 29, 1931 on the family farm in Minnesota, the son of Albert and Annie (Kruize) Hulzebos. On May 31, 1955 Peter Hulzebos and Susan Zahl were joined in holy marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morris, Minnesota. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Peter was an active member of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford for many years both volunteering and helping with other projects. He was an excellent woodworker having built all of his own homes and he also enjoyed repairing and restoring furniture and antiques. He had a reputation with his family as a master snow shoveler, fixer of anything and wood working enthusiast. Peter often helped his children with home improvement projects and his expertise was invaluable.

First and foremost in his life was his love of God, Susan and his children and his family is proud to have received so many blessings as a result of his love.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Hulzebos; children: Michael (Mary) Hulzebos, Lori (Kevin) Walton, Teresa (Dennis) Brandt, Joan Casey and Amy (Eugene) Kuhn; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-children; brother, George (Dorothy) Hulzebos. Also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11am Wednesday, August 31st at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6001 Main St. in Rockford. Pastor Michael Barlow will conduct the service.

A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 9am until the time of service.
