Pearl Florence Heacock, age 93 of Buffalo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 2, 2018 at the Lake Ridge Care Center of Buffalo.
Pearl was born on November 17, 1924 in Olivia, MN one of six children born to Lars & Florence (Snicker) Anderson. She is the last of her siblings to join her family in heaven, Laurence passed at the age of one in the 1920’s and Raymond, Margaret and Pearl all lived to ninety plus.
Pearl was united in marriage to Meryl Heacock on June 24, 1946. The union took place shortly after Meryl had returned home from serving in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II in England.
Pearl’s father owned the Exchange Café and Meryl’s father owned the SheepShedde both of Olivia. Upon moving to Buffalo in 1952 Pearl and Meryl used this experience and operated the Huber Hotel Café in Buffalo. Meryl was the cook and Pearl was the waitress at the Café. Meryl went on to become a janitor at the Buffalo Elementary School and Pearl became the consummate homemaker.
Pearl and Meryl raised four children in Buffalo. They always made sure that the children went to Sunday School and also were confirmed in their faith. One tragic day, July 25, 1965, they lost their two sons Mike and Doug in a car accident.
Pearl and Meryl had been married 30 plus when Meryl died from cancer in 1980. Pearl had to find something to help her with these terrible losses and she became active in the VFW Auxiliary. She also raised funds through Bike-a-Thons and collected enough to win three bicycles over the years.
Pearl’s favorite place to hang out was J’s Down Under where she could be relaxed and be with friends she had known in Buffalo over the years.
Pearl lived thirty plus years at Woodmere Apartments, where Meryl was the first caretaker. When Pearl broke her hip she moved to Sunrise Apartments, which was the first hospital in Buffalo and where her two sons Mike and Doug were born. Pearl made Lake Ridge Care Center her final home before entering our Father’s heavenly kingdom. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and the staff enjoyed her also.
Pearl is survived by her children Ron Heacock and Sandy (Mark Ziegler) Heacock; grandchildren Michelle (Bill) Maxa, Jenny Kaiser, Mark (Ann) Heacock, Stacy Eull and Darcy Ellis; great grandchildren Kenny Richter, Shaine & Michael Heacock, Lauryn Vraspir, Karrisa & Jerrit Eull, Ethan & Sophie Pearl Ellis and Brian Roberts Jr.; great-great granddaughter Brigid Richter; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Meryl and sons Mike and Doug. Losing these three so young was extremely hard for her to endure but she has now joined them in heaven. She is also preceded by her parents and siblings Raymond, Harold and Laurence Anderson; sisters Margaret Duarte and Mildred Gabrielson Sullivan
