Patrick C. Fitzsimmons, age 83 of Rogers, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on August 20, 2020.
Pat enjoyed all of the simple things in life: fishing, hunting, golfing, dancing the night away, and playing cards with the people he loved most. He taught many students at St. Michael’s Parochial School how to master the art of cribbage, which was one of his favorite games. Pat regularly volunteered at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church by ushering at mass and mowing the lawn. He served many pancake breakfasts for the Knights of Columbus and provided meals for Sharing and Caring Hands. Pat also spent many hours volunteering at the CROSS food shelf. When he wasn’t volunteering, Pat thoroughly enjoyed traveling the country and cherished every minute with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Alberta; children, Tammy Ackland, Tracy (Jeff) Yurich, Renee (Steve) Jeska, Ron Fitzsimmons, Jeff (Cathy) Scherber, Jeaneen (Joel) Kolles, and Kevin (Shauncy) Scherber; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean (Bob) Peterson and Judy (Lyle) Pedlar; brother-in-law, Gerard Yaeger; sisters-in-law, Margie Robeck and Arlene Dehmer; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie; sisters, Donna Yaeger and Geri Flahave; son-in-law, Gene Ackland; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Mary, Queen of Peace in Rogers, MN. Inurnment will take place after the service at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in St. Michael, MN. A Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be directed to CROSS in Rogers.

Dear Alberta and Family – I’m so very sorry about Pat’s passing. He was a great uncle to me, and I admired his zest for life. What a great picture you’ve included – that smile could light up a room!
