Otto C. Buttenhoff, age 89 of Buffalo.
Ottomar Carl Buttenhoff was born one of eleven children to Fred and Alvina (Reek) on a farm in Middleville Township on June 7, 1927.
He attended St. James Lutheran School in Howard Lake and was also confirmed there.
Otto enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and served with the occupation forces in Japan until 1948. He married Virginia (Sigfridson) on May 21, 1949. In 1951 their son Gregory was born and in 1952 their daughter Brenda. In 1955 they bought a dairy farm in Marysville Township. Their son Joel was born in 1960 while on the farm. Otto and Virginia bought 40 acres near Buffalo in 1965 and began planting apple trees which became Deer Lake Orchard. The farm buildings and the 40 acre dairy farm were sold and the family moved into the new house at the orchard in 1972. Otto was employed with the Wright County Highway Dept. for 15 years and worked the orchard in his spare time. Eventually things got to the point where he needed to work the orchard full time. The couple’s daughter Juli was born in 1974. The orchard business continued to prosper until they sold it in 1993 and moved to Buffalo to retire. Sadly Otto became totally blind in 1997. Otto and Virginia moved to Cottagewood Apartments in 2011. Otto passed away on Saturday morning September 3, 2016.
Otto was preceded in death his daughter Brenda; granddaughter Katie; parents; brother Melvin; sisters Ardys, Edna, Lila and Gladys.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Virginia; daughter Juli; sons Greg (Jennie) and Joel (Chris); 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Leonard, Raymond and Garland; sisters Lucille and Lorraine; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Otto will be held on Saturday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. all at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

I remember working with Otto, 1973,
at Van Dale Mfg in Long Lake, MN. He
    was a very quiet man.

Our condolences and prayers on your loss and Heaven’s gain. I recall picking strawberries on the Marysville farm in 1969. Byron and Janie Glunz
