Norman August Dehmer, age 83 of St. Michael, MN passed away peaceful on August 26, 2013 after a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, MN. Visitation from 4-8 PM at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael, MN & one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday.
Norman was born on February 19, 1930 to Leo & Laurentia (Brenk) Dehmer in St. Michael, MN. He attended St. Michael School through the 8th grade. He attended Buffalo High School for one year. Norman had to quit school to stay home & help on the farm because his brothers had to serve in the military. He married Darlene Dixon on December 30, 1950 & to this union three children were born.
In 1952 he bought the feed mill in St. Michael & the family moved into a 2 room cold water flat. In 1956 he bought Hanover Milling Company. In 1957 the company flooded & again in 1965 after which he closed the business & sold it in 1970.
Norman worked for several construction companies including Bill Corrah, Veit Construction & Suburban Ready Mix. In 1968 he & Darlene started Norman Dehmer Excavating digging basements & sewer systems. In 1972 they bought land south of St. Michael & started a gravel pit, which was in operation until his retirement.
Norman & Darlene wintered in Texas for 17 years. Norman planted orange & grapefruit trees & enjoyed small gardening projects. Norman was known to all in Circle W RV Park as the “can man.” He would collect cans from everyone in the park & would donate the proceeds to the Rockport EMS.
Norman leaves to mourn his wife of 62 yrs, Darlene; daughters, Karen Corwin, Ruth (Cal) Vollbrecht; son, Ken (Teresa) Dehmer; seven grandchildren, Bob Eull, Kevin Eull, Christy Thompson, Tracy Vollbrecht, Brittney (Allen) Murray, Chantel Dehmer, Ryan Dehmer; six great-grandchildren, Cora, Karrisa, Jerrit & Tristan Eull, Taylor & Austin Thompson; three brothers, Vernon Dehmer, Alex (Kathy) Dehmer, Jim (Anne) Dehmer; four sisters, Annella (Richard) Holthaus, Doris Crowley, Diane (Dennis) McNiff & Mary (Dave) Earenfight; many, many nieces, nephews, friends & family.

    I was blessed to have known Uncle Norman. The times I spent with him and his family in Minnesota will always be cherished memories. God bless him and his family.
