Norma L. Barthel, age 85, of Elk River & formerly from Albertville died on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.

She was born on February 19, 1926 in Mobridge, South Dakota the daughter of Edwin & Elda Fenske Hansen.

In October of 1947, Norma L. Hansen was joined in holy marriage to Ervin J. Barthel in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Mr. & Mrs. Barthel engaged in dairy farming for many years where the Albertville Outlet Mall presently sits. She also was employed for twenty five years at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo. Norma volunteered through RSVP.

She enjoyed family get to gathers and traveling.

She was a faithful member of The Church of St. Andrew in Elk River. She was a former member of The Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Norma belonged to Christian Mothers.

Norma is survived by her children, Larry (Sue) Barthel of Albertville, Linda (Harvey) Mauk of Howard Lake, Michael Barthel of Monticello, Douglas Barthel of Portland, Oregon, Roxanne (Robert) Humphreys of Elk River; a sister, Bernice Anderson of Mobridge, South Dakota; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin in 1985.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Norma Barthel will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville.

Interment followed at St. Albert’s Catholic Cemetery in Albertville

A visitation will be held at the church Wednesday evening, July 13th from 5-8 PM.

Casket Bearers will be Danny Mauk, Harlan Mauk, David Doroff, Chuck Barthel, Paul Barthel and Leon Barthel.
